Managing Editor
A Managing Editor is a unique position at TDA. As part of the team of eight to ten editors that provides quality assurance for all TDA projects, the Managing Editor performs primarily editing functions with a few writing tasks. The Managing Editor may work closely with one or two TDA clients to manage their editorial projects within TDA and to help build a relationship with the client.
As a leadership position at TDA, managing editors help clients define their objectives; provide expertise and knowledge about editorial processes; lead a team of writers, editors, and graphic designers; and manage the creative process within TDA for client projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform developmental and copy editing for high-tech content for a wide range of marketing deliverables—including feature stories, customer success stories, white papers, brochures, newsletters, Web content, magazine articles, and product-oriented materials—for a high-level business audience
- Provide editorial guidance to help writers create compelling, innovative, and targeted content for their TDA clients
- Manage, mentor, and provide team leadership for senior editors, writers, and graphic designers who help with your projects for TDA clients
- Interact with the client services team to create an account plan and strategy for your TDA clients
- Work with project managers to help ensure that schedules and processes meet client expectations
- Manage client projects from concept to completion, including accountability for budgets and production
- Potentially serve as managing editor of a custom publication
Desired background and experience:
- 6–8 years experience editing high-tech business-to-business marketing materials for print and the Web
- Excellent project management skills and attention to quality and details
- Significant experience working with corporate editorial style guides, The Chicago Manual of Style, and The Associated Press Stylebook
- BS/BA in journalism, English, or communications
- Comfortable editing all types of high-tech topics
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to quickly grasp new IT trends, concepts, and a range of topics and translate that knowledge into informative content for business and technical audiences
- Ability to work well under deadlines and flexibility to respond to changing priorities
- Ability to work well with others on the team and with management
- Manage multiple simultaneous projects effectively and deliver on time
- Extensive research abilities for fact checking
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment
