The TDA Group, a full-service marketing firm serving the high-technology community, announced today that it has won four awards for three separate publications in the prestigious Touchstone 2002 Technical Publications Competition. Held annually, the Touchstone competition honors outstanding technical publications and online communications. The TDA Group received two Distinguished Technical Publications awards for TotalStorage Solutions (TSS), an IBM newsletter; an Excellence award for a brochure produced for Jetstream; and a Merit award for the agency’s own corporate brochure.
The Touchstone awards are sponsored by the Society for Technical Communication (STC), a professional association dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practice of technical communication. Awards are granted at three levels—Distinguished, Excellence, and Merit—and competition occurs both locally and internationally. The TSS newsletter was recognized at both the local and international levels with a Distinguished Technical Publications award.
The Distinguished award is bestowed only on those publications that demonstrate truly outstanding communication. A winning publication must meet the stated purpose for its intended audience. TSS successfully hit the mark by providing up-to-date information and developing a sense of community for its audience.
The brochure produced for Jetstream (now part of Paradyne Corporation) earned praise in the Touchstone competition for its professional look and positive message. Visual consistency, easy readability, and graphical elements added to the overall appeal and helped make information about the products easier for the audience to absorb. Judges felt that the brochure—which earned an Excellence award—provided the type of technical information necessary to make an informed purchasing decision.
The TDA Group’s corporate brochure is a multimedia promotional piece, designed with potential marketing communications clients in mind. The entry won a Merit award; judges praised its professional look and coherent branding.
