TDA Helps Launch
Hats Off to Teachers

TDA Group has enjoyed 20+ years of success in the unique environment of Silicon Valley—and we support the community that has helped us flourish. Most recently, we joined forces with Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network (JVSVN) to help further the cause of education. JVSVN focuses on issues affecting the region’s economy and quality of life, and brings together leaders from business, government, academia, labor, and the broader community to identify opportunities and work toward solutions.

Paul Gustafson, president of TDA Group, holds a seat on the JVSVN board of directors and chairs its communications committee.

Among JVSVN’s current projects is “Alliance for Teaching,” an initiative that addresses the challenges public school teachers face in Silicon Valley. Its goal: to make Silicon Valley a nationally renowned region for teaching excellence and a place where good teachers are valued and rewarded.

“Hats Off to Teachers” is one program within Alliance for Teaching. Dr. Colleen Wilcox, long-time Silicon Valley educator and director of the program, explains: “Attracting and keeping good teachers is easier when they feel appreciated. Hats Off to Teachers encourages local retailers to support teachers by offering them discounted goods and services via a Web site. To launch the program, we needed a way to explain it convincingly to businesses, and we needed the Web site itself.”

Enter the TDA Group. We offered our services pro bono to the Hats Off program. In short order we crafted messaging, wrote and designed a brochure aimed at retailers, and created a Web site that will go live soon as the heart of the program.

Russell Hancock, JVSVN president and CEO, looks forward to future work with TDA Group on other initiatives. “The TDA talent pool is amazing – everything from consulting, writing, and editing to all types of design work,” he says. “TDA knows how to listen – a welcome trait these days – and gets the job done with panache. We’re very fortunate to have TDA Group as a partner in making Silicon Valley a better place to live and work.”

Dr. Wilcox sums it up:
